The Northwest Ohio Coalition for Public School Excellence is dedicated to banning the teaching of Critical Race Theory in our schools. Critical Race Theory is a perspective on modern life – a world view that believes the events and ideas around us in politics, education, entertainment and the media, the workplace and beyond must be explained in terms of racial identities.

You will hear the words equity and not equality. CRT is now a big business. The Sylvania School Board looked at a book called Coaching for Equity during the April 26, 2020, meeting. During that meeting they discussed speaking to a consultant. The author of the book owns a consulting group called Bright Morning. Bright Morning’s “work “transforms schools into equitable places of learning.” NWOCFPSE believes in schools that are places of equality and excellence.

CRT is now big business. Workforce Management estimates that companies spend a combined $8 billion on diversity and inclusion training annually, While Human Resource Management Journal reports that inclusion consultants earn a combined $400 million to $600 million annually in consulting fees alone.

Sylvania Schools are considered to be one of the best in the area.

The overall Grade for Sylvania Schools is B. Here is the breakdown of that score taken from the Sylvania Schools website.

  1. Progress A
  2. Achievement C
  3. Prepared for Success D
  4. Gap Closing B
  5. K-3 literacy C

Rather than spend money on consultants, would it not be better to spend money on educators that could improve these grades? Teachers working directly with our students. The present Sylvania School Board will not vote to ban CRT. It is time for new ideas.
